Dr. Seuss Quotes - Day 5

There are millions of people in the world.  Each unique and different.  That alone is a pretty amazing thing to think about that none of us is exactly the same.  Shapes, sizes, likes, dislikes, race, sexual orientation, religion, style, etc.  There are some things that make us different and special, why would you want to copy someone else?

Many times people try to copy someone else because it may make them feel like they are "cool" or that they fit in.  But in reality what you are doing is losing and suppressing who you really are.  When you are not able to be who you truly are then you are not going to be as happy with your life as you could be.  Don't hide or be ashamed of who you are, celebrate it and do all you can not to fit in!

Dr. Seuss Quotes - Day 4

While we are all on this planet together and all going through this life together, we are still our own person. And you are the one and only person who can affect your life. Whatever others do to you, whatever situation you are put in, and however it happens to you, it is still up to YOU!

You decide how you react to a situation and how it affects you.  You decide how someone influences or changes you.  You go through life with what you have learned and what feels right which in turn guides you to where you will go.  So remember even though we are all in this together when it comes to your life and happiness, you're on your own!

Dr. Seuss Quotes - Day 3

Each day we are not guaranteed the next.  We never know when one moment will be our last.  Life is precious and a gift.  The present is just that, a present.  So why do something each day that you are not proud of or would not want people to remember you by.

By kind, be thankful, do things for others, and be your best self every day.  Do what you want to do to be remembered by.  What will you want people to say about you when you are gone?  Act as if each day is your last and leave your own legacy behind.

Dr. Seuss Quotes - Day 2

We are very busy people.  We wake up, go to work, come home make dinner, and go to bed only to start all over again tomorrow.  And there are a million other things that happen in between all those things as well.  Because of this we let many things in our lives pass by without even so much as a notice.

When was the last time you took a moment to just take in what's around you.  Appreciate the people you are with at this moment, the sounds, the smells, the feeling you have, and the wonder around you.  Sometimes the things you may usually pass up are actually the best things in life.  So take a moment each day just to stop and SEE what is around you, don't shut your eyes.

Dr Seuss Quotes - Day 1

No matter what happens in our lives we cannot look at at events and be sad that they have passed.  Instead you need to look at what has happened as another chapter in your life.  A great memory you can hold forever.  A great lesson you can learn and bring forward to other times in your life.

Don't try to live in the past.  Because you simply cannot.  No matter how hard you try you cannot go back and relive or change the past.  So smile because it happened and be present for the next great memory that is coming.

10 Days of Dr. Seuss Quotes

It is hard to find someone who has not read a Dr. Seuss book at some time in their life. Not only were they full of imagination and interesting characters, but they all told a great message.  Inside every story was a life lesson that rings true no matter what age you are.  For the next 10 days this blog is going to feature ten of my favorite quotes from this great man.

Born Theodor Seuss Geisel, in 1904, he has changed the world of literature and imagination.  Never be afraid to make up a world of your own and rhyme a rhyme, because there is always time!

Doubt is a Traitor

A theme that is discussed over and over on this blog is how the way you think and feel manifests itself into how your life unfolds around you.  Thoughts become things.  Like attracts like.  In order to get what you want out of the people, situations, and things in your life you need to truly believe and feel positively towards those things.  This means focusing on what you want and acting as if you already have it.  This does not mean thinking of the worse case scenario or wondering 'what if' constantly.

When you have feelings of doubt you are essentially becoming a traitor to yourself.  When you believe in something you want and focus on it you feel good about it and have faith it will come to you.  When you start to have doubts about it or lose hope in it then you are essentially telling your feelings that they are not strong enough and not worth it.  Once you start to believe that you don't deserve or will not get something, then you will get off track from receiving it.  Just as the law of attraction attracts things you want, it also attracts things you don't want.  And this is all because it attracts what your thoughts and feelings are focused on.

Think about a time you had a project due at work or school, or had a meeting with someone.  And think about how you started to have doubts on if the project was good enough, if the meeting would go well, or if the decisions you were making were the right one.  I can bet that those things didn't make you feel happy and wonderful.  More than likely they made you feel more nervous, worrisome, crappy, scared, and deflated.  That is a perfect example of how doubt is a traitor to your own positive feelings and self esteem.  Instead you need to focus on feeling positive about what you are doing and the decisions you made.  This will in turn make you feel more confident and ready to tackle whatever is in front of you.  So the next time a doubt creeps in your thoughts you need to stop it and keep it on your side fighting to bring the good in your life.

The Way You Think is How You Feel

There is a direct relationship between thoughts and feelings.  Feelings are the key to knowing if you are thinking on a level of positivity, love, happiness, and kindness.  Because it is not possible to feel good and think negatively at the same time, and vice-versa.  You have to be projecting positive thoughts and beliefs about the people and circumstances in your life in order to feel good about them.

Right now ask yourself "how am I feeling?"  Now many people ask you that all day and the almost brainless response we all give is "I'm good, and you?"  But really consider the question and ask yourself often throughout your day.  If you are not feeling good or happy then most likely you can pinpoint what it is that you are thinking about or focusing your thoughts on that is making you feel bad.  And you may also be able to see that you are really thinking negatively about other things happening that day just because the original bad thought is putting you in a bad mood.  This is complete law of attraction in action again.  What you think about you bring about.  What you focus your thoughts on is what is going to be brought to you.  So if they are thoughts of anger, irritation, boredom, sadness, depression and fear then you are going to be feeling pretty crappy.  If they are thoughts of love, happiness, gratefulness, kindness, and compassion then you will feel great!

"The way we choose to react to something in our lives is so much more important that the actual situation itself."

Throughout our day we will come in contact with many people and situations that will test our reactions to them.  No matter what it is, or how negative a situation may seem, it is important to react as much as you can on a level of good thought.  It will help you, in the end, on feeling much better about life and yourself.  Now on the other hand when something good happens then truly focus on that, revel in it, boast about it, and beam with positivity.  The more you smile and show good to the world around you it will show it right back to you.

I challenge you to go through your day and keep checking in with yourself.  "How am I feeling?" "Is what I am thinking about making me feel good?"  And you may be surprised with what you notice.  I have done this for a while now and it is really funny how fast you can stop yourself and say "you know what this is not making me feel good, so I am going to focus on something else."  Then I choose to think about something that makes me happy.  Whether that be a song, food, something I will be doing later, a friend/loved one, etc.  Always look at "The Sunny Side".  No matter what it is, it takes my thoughts about the bad thing and turns it into good thoughts, which in turn can only bring more good thoughts and feelings.  Only YOU can change how you feel and control how you are feeling.  In one of this blog's first entries I spoke about how you should "Grasp the Steering Wheel of Your Life" and drive yourself in the direction you want to go.  So listen to your body when it tells you it is not feeling good...then change it!

Be The Good...

In a world where there are many things that can and do go wrong, it is important to keep an optimistic and positive outlook in all situations.  The world around us has violence, anger, hatred, devastation, betrayal, etc.  The list of negative energy situations can be long.  However, there is good in the world and you need to believe that in order to see it.

You may have heard the phrase, "be the good you want to see in the world".  Well that is exactly what needs to happen in your life if you want to see the positive around you.  Positivity, happiness, and joy are all contagious.  When you exude them in your personality, words and actions you are sending that vibration to those around you.  People will rise up to get on your frequency.  The more you focus on all the bad things, and let them affect the way you live your life, you are just allowing those things to linger and spread through the world.

Choose to live each day finding the good in all people and circumstances.  I promise you that you can.  Always give people a chance.  Trust those who have given you no reason not to.  Smile at those you pass.  Do good deeds for others.  Spread compliments and kind words to others.  Find ways to make others happy and you will make yourself happy.  It feels better to be good, so why would you want to be bad or focus on bad things?  Be the good you want to see in the world and live your life!

As a challenge to yourself, pick one thing each day that you are going to do to help yourself or others see the "good" around them.  Comment below on how you accomplished that.

Creative Pay-It-Forward for 2013

Random acts of kindness are a great way to bring joy to others and yourself. They can be little things or big things. But they are done with the sole purpose of giving and wanting nothing in return.

I saw this fun and creative way of paying it forward going around on Facebook and thought I would post it here. This is really easy to do and I urge you all to try it. Post the message below on your Facebook of other social media outlet and let the fun begin.

"For 2013 I would like to pay it forward to those in my life. The first 5 people to comment on this post will receive some sort of gift from me. It may be a book, cd, original work of art, invitation for a coffee date, etc. It will be a surprise and come sometime during this year. The only catch is that you must also post this message and do the same for five people in your life. Enjoy and spread the joy!"

Have fun!!

"Why Not Choose Happy?"

Happy New Year to you all!  This is the start of a new year with new hopes, new dreams, and new decisions that will come your way.  You will have to make a choice about what you choose to let in and out of your life and how things around you will affect you.

You have the sole control over how you live your life.  You make the choices.  You react to the world around you.  So why not choose happy?  Happy feels good so why not choose to be happy more often and in more situations?

Make it one of your resolutions to find the happiness in all situations.  When you come at a crossroad of choosing to be angry, sad, or negative then you should stop yourself and say, "I Choose Happy!"

May you all have a great new year and truly Live YOUR Life!
